В эту субботу Джонатан попрощался с бабушкой, Мари О`Киф , в своё время она помогла своей невестке, Джерри , поднять четверых сыновей, Джонатана и его братьев. Так что Джонни попрощался можно сказать, что со второй мамой.
Светлая память и мир душе Мари О`Киф . Бабушку отпевали в католическом храме. Значит она была крещёной и верующей, по Ирландской традиции. И, судя по всему, очень долго прожила в единственном браке, вырастила 4 детей, помогла детям с внуками, дождалась правнуков... Сильная ирландская женщина. Светлый мир её душе !... Мужа, дедушку Джонатана, пережила ненадолго, всего на три года. Джейми , средний брат Джонатана, написал на своей странице в фэйсбуке о дедушке и бабушке : "Теперь они вместе".

Теперь (*спойлеры) , после того, как Рагнар Лодброк жестоко убит Эллой -- как говорил в интервью Майкл Хёрст "Это был единственный достоверно-известный нам исторический факт, смерть Рагнара в яме со змеями. Это обсуждалось с самого начала съёмок " -- история о викингах получает совершенно новый виток развития. То, что в образе Рагнара Хёрст проводит явную параллель (в 15 серии) именно с христианскими мучениками — для меня было как на ладони ((((... Противопоставляет "варвара", "дикаря" Рагнара — "верующему" Элле... И отступничество Экберта от дружбы , связанной с воспоминанием о божьем человеке , Ательстане -- подобно отступничеству Понтия Пилата (( ... Вопросы веры, вопросы жизни и смерти , философия, вот что важнее всего Майклу Хёрсту , что являлось до сего момента идеей сериала.
Судя по словам в недавнем интервью Майкла , теперь центральной фигурой повествования (на месте Рагнара) станет Ивар Бескостный , и вообще сыновья Рагнара. О них в дальнейшем, на протяжение 4-5 сезона будет вестись речь. О путешествиях Бьорна. О мести Ивара Элле, Экберту и Лагерте, убившей его мать.

Экберт , разумно, готовится к приходу сыновей Рагнара.

« Я очень горжусь тем, что это не фантазии. Что это реально, и о реальных событиях. Потому что эти события повлияли на мир. Эта смерть имеет очень большое значение, я знаю. Тревис и я провели много времени, разговаривая об этом эпизоде. На одном из этапов, я спросил его: "Тебя не беспокоит, что ты умрешь?", и он сказал: "Нет, приятель,", Ты знаешь, потому что он веселый австралиец. "Нет, приятель. Все будет хорошо". IGN talks to showrunner Michael Hirst about the latest game-changing death and where the show goes from here.
BY MATT FOWLER Warning: The following interview with Vikings creator/showrunner Michael Hirst contains massive spoilers from this week's episode, "All His Angels."
This week, Vikings star Travis Fimmel exited the show in epic fashion as Ragnar, traded over to King Ælla, fell to a series of burnings, beatings and poisonous snake bites. Doomed to the vengeful king's viper pit, Ragnar sacrificed himself for the sake of his own legacy and for the future of his people, knowing that Ivar and his brothers would swear revenge and come calling on England for blood.
I spoke to Vikings creator Michael Hirst about the game-changing episode, "All His Angels," and what Ragnar's demise means for the rest of the series. Plus, I got Hirst's thoughts about the death itself, Ragnar's relationship with Ecbert, and why Ivar was, ultimately, Ragnar's choice to succeed him.
IGN: Knowing what we know about the real Ragnar aside, was it always the plan to kill Ragnar off? And in this manner?
Michael Hirst: It was, because I try to stick as close as I can to the historical record. And I knew there was a lot of speculation of social media about whether or not I'd do it, but it was always my intention to do that. Because that's the one thing we really know about the real Ragnar Lothbrok. But the difference was that when I first wrote the [TV series] bible, this was all happening at the end of Season 1. [laughs] When Travis [Fimmel] first joined the show, which was fairly close to when we started shooting, all he got were the first two scripts and the initial bible that told him he would die at the end of episode 10. Obviously, as soon as we got into the show and I saw what we had and what the actors brought, that all changed and opened up. But I was going to stick as closely as I could to the historical record, however harsh that historical record was at times, because it was important to me to be grounded in reality.
IGN: Obviously the show is called "Vikings" and not "Ragnar" so the story can go on without him, but what's the course now? Does the tone of the series change with him now gone? Will we get the Great Heathen Army?
Hirst: Sure, that's coming most definitely. I was clear from the start -- I was clear with History and I was clear in all the interviews I did -- that this was the story of Ragnar and his sons. And at least two of his sons, Ivar the Boneless and Bjorn, did become more famous than Ragnar. So I was always anxious to move onto them. And I have to say that we've now shot nearly 25 episodes after Ragnar's death and so we're into different worlds. The whole saga has pushed on. Although Ragnar is dead, of course he never disappears. He lives on through his influence, through his dreams and ambitions that his sons now carry. Expanding out and colonizing parts of the world. But he also lives on through his sons and so he never totally goes away. You know, which I think is true of life. And I don't think the tone changes at all. We have these young guys now who've come in and they're wonderful, but we still have the anchor of Floki and Lagertha. We still have continuity and continuity is very important I think on a show like this.

Hirst: Another thing I think is important is that this isn't fantasy. In fantasy nobody gets older and very few people die. And if they do die, they can come back to life sometimes. This is a show about real people and so people do get older. If you were to go back and look at how Ragnar looked in that first season, which I've done recently, you'll be shocked and amazed. He just looked so young. He looked so fresh-faced. Then you look at what he'd become. His experiences were written in his face and Travis did a marvelous job at carrying that weight, and the makeup department worked wonders, but he looked like an older man who'd we'd followed on an incredible journey. We have children who grow up and people who get older and die and I'm very proud of the fact that it's not fantasy. That it's real and is about real events. Because these events affected the world. This death is hugely important, I know. Travis and I spent a long time talking about this episode. At one stage, I asked him "Does it bother you that you're going to die?" and he said "No, mate," you know because he's a cheery Aussie. "No, mate. It'll be fine." But actually, when it came to it he was deeply committed and deeply involved in the sсript and how it would all play out. The day that the scene was shot where he was in the cage over the pit, it was an extraordinary day for all of us. It was mid-winter in Ireland. It was freezing cold and pouring rain. He was up in the cage and then got dropped into the pit. Again, we tried to be as real as we can and everyone knew that it was an extraordinary moment.
IGN: The moments that Ragnar had with Ecbert in this episode, and in last week's episode too, were incredible. Their Athelstan connection aside, what is it that drives this unlikely bond between them?
Hirst: Firstly, I always felt that both of these episode, 14 and 15, should really be shown together. They're partnered. They're both about the death of Ragnar. It's really one extended episode. Ragnar and Ecbert felt an affinity that kind of developed as I wrote the show and as I discovered the characters. Of course, when we cast Linus [Roache], who is a great actor, we saw that the two actors were very different because Travis is a natural, but they both also felt an affinity. So that gave me the opportunity to explore the relationship between them and find the things they had in common - as well as their differences. They're very different human beings and they have a very different attitude towards ruling. Ragnar doesn't like being a king while Ecbert is a consummate ruler. And yet they understood what it took to rule. The compromises, even the death of the soul in some ways. By exercising power, you're in danger of losing your soul and becoming an inhuman character. There was a great scene between then, a lot earlier on in the show, where the two of them were just laughing, just sitting together and wondering if they were good or bad and they were laughing at it. So in a very deep sense, they understood each other.

Hirst: I think they both found in the other one something profound and something enviable. Ecbert, despite his power and despite his ability to manipulate situations found something noble in Ragnar. Which is why he had to abandon his kingly robes and don Athelstan's monkish robes and bear witness at Ragnar's death. He had to bear witness to someone who he felt was noble going to his death in a brave manner. And in subsequent episodes, this will have a big impact on how Ecbert himself will face death and so on. And there's something about Ecbert that amused Ragnar. He interested and fascinated Ragnar. The two of them had this deep relationship in spite of their differences and it was incredible for me to play with that. I just thought that the scenes between them in last week's episode, in 14, were incredbile and very playful and powerful. And intellectually interesting as well. The three of us sat down and discussed these scenes at length and the two of them went off even to rehearse them because they wanted to get it right. They wanted to do justice to the relationship. It's unusual to do in TV drama because you don't usually get time to rehearse. I think personally, those two episode were two of the best things I've ever written in TV.
IGN: Right before his death, Ragnar doubled down on the Norse gods and made a big crowing speech about Valhalla and the gods. We know he doesn't buy into any of that anymore so that was all just for show, right?
Hirst: Exactly. He says to Ecbert that his death will be an opportunity to speak about revenge and the gods and Valhalla and Ecbert says "Well, you don't believe in that anymore" and Ragnar says "Yes, but my sons do and my people do." So it's part of the immense bravery of Ragnar that he speaks things directly to his sons that he himself no longer believes. The irony, the deepest irony, is that the only way for a viking to get into Valhalla is to die bravely and he's doing that. He's dying with supreme bravery, refusing to be broken by Ælla. King Ælla has tried desperately to break him, to humiliate him, and he fails. Ragnar dies triumphantly and so he is going to Valhalla. Even though he's denounced the gods in front of Ecbert, he is in fact doing what a good viking should do.
IGN: What was it that made Ragnar come around to Ivar? Their final words involved Ragnar telling Ivar that he was his choice to lead.
Hirst: Following that storyline, from back when Ragnar wanted to leave Ivar outside to die, in a very traditional viking way where you don't have any sympathy for the weak, to now as Ragnar sees that Ivar has a lot of anger about his condition, Ragnar knows that he can use that anger and channel that anger and be very very clever. Ragnar values intelligence. It's what's made him a different viking from all the cliched vikings on TV or in movies. Ragnar himself is an intelligent guy and he sees some of those same qualities in Ivar. He even sees that Ivar has overcome a lot of obstacles simply by using the power of thought. His intelligence. He's realized that Ivar in some ways might be the future for the vikings. They all know that there's an epic struggle between the pagan gods and the Christian gods and Ragnar has chosen to invest in Ivar. On a human level, he wanted to spend time with Ivar and prepare him for the years ahead. He wanted to take him to England so he could see and meet his enemy, all while spending time with him. Just on a human level, it's a moving journey. It feels very much like a saga. We never lose sight of the fact that this is all a family drama.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers tells all on playing Joe Strummer in Clash-inspired new film ‘London Town’

Today (December 22) marks the anniversary of The Clash frontman Joe Strummer’s death. Even 14 years after he left us, his legacy as a politically-engaged and galvanising musical force continues to grow and inspire new generations of musicians and music fans. As such, there’s still plenty of interest in his story, as new film London Town shows. Starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Bend It Like Beckham, Velvet Goldmine) as Strummer, the movie follows 14-year-old Shay Baker (Daniel Huddlestone) as he discovers The Clash through his free-spirited mother and encounters the punk hero several times as he struggles through teenage crushes and keeping his family together. Jonathan Rhys Meyers told us about what it was like to play such an icon, The Clash’s relevance and the new band exciting him today.
Were you a fan of The Clash before taking on this role?
“I was a Clash fan, but I wasn’t so much of a Clash fan that I couldn’t be objective about what I was doing. I didn’t have posters of Joe Strummer on my wall. I was a big Clash fan, but I was more into the music. I was born in ’77 so I missed out on the socio-economic element of The Clash at that time. I understood it a little bit more through Joe’s poetry later on in life, but essentially I knew the music and I liked the music so that made it a hell of a lot easier. I had no interest in glam rock when I did Velvet Goldmine, I didn’t like it. I was a Led Zeppelin guy, so that was a little bit more complicated. I wasn’t an Elvis fan either [he played the star in TV series Elvis], which made me really objective about playing Elvis – I took all the Elvis out of Elvis and just made him a poor boy from Tupelo, Mississippi. That made it much more authentic.
“Also with Strummer, this was The Clash before they started making big money. They were still playing small gigs. I wanted to get that element of rock stars before they become real rock stars. They’re local heroes right now. The Clash never became that stadium band – I think they broke up before that big money happened – so they were always the struggling artist”
Did you immerse yourself in The Clash’s music and films and books about them and Joe while preparing for the film?
“Of course. I didn’t read a book about Joe Strummer. To do research, I don’t think you read books or autobiographies about people because they might not be in your sсript. If I read a passage in a book about someone and think ‘Oh God, this would be really good in the film’ but it’s not in the sсript it’s not going to do me any good. Maybe if I was playing Napoleon! But Strummer, it was mainly about watching private interviews, watching the down time. I watched Rude Boy so I could get an element of what it was like on the road for these guys. But mainly it was just interviews and just picking out one or two things and an energy.”
What did you learn about Joe that you maybe weren’t aware of before?
“That he was a really, really hard working guy. I didn’t know that he was middle class, being the working class hero. At the time, people could see the super wealthy were pulling away more and more, and the middle class were getting crushed into the sense of stagnant suburbia. I suppose Joe was very interested in this and what was happening at the time socio-economically. I think Joe understood politicians spend 98 percent of their time covering their own arses and trying to keep their jobs. I think he understood that politicians were basically getting into power simply to have power. So The Clash had definitely that voice of the working class and Joe became the voice of the working class even though I think he’s the son of a diplomat.
“It was kind of strange that he had to play this character in an almost extreme way. He had to play this guy struggling to give a voice to to the voiceless and he did it through rock music because the kids are sponges. They were taking music from different parts of the world. Paul Simonon was such a huge reggae, ska and dub fan that they were able to pull things from people like Isaac Hayes’, Toots and the Maytals and The Wailers and mash it up. It’s incredible how good punk and ska work together. They’re completely different elements on completely different sides of things.”
Do you think The Clash are still relevant to young people today?
“The Clash are even more relevant now. Since the time the trailer came out for this and now, their music has shot up. ‘Bankrobber’ is one of the greatest songs of the 20th century. We couldn’t use it in the film because I think it’s sampled from something else that they mashed up. There was some complication as to why I couldn’t sing ‘Bankrobber’ and I was like ‘come on, you’ve got to give me this fucking tune!’ Especially the video of Joe in the studio singing it with these big, white late ’70s/early ’80s headphones. I really wanted to do that, but it was the earlier Clash music that Derek was interested in, like ‘Clash City Rockers’, ‘White Riot’, ‘Clampdown’. I would have loved to have done ‘Bankrobber’ and ‘Tommy Gun’.”
Did you have any say in what songs were used in the film?
“No, bollocks, nothing! I’m just an actor, man. Yeah, I had to play ’em. But then Joe’s a rhythm player – he wasn’t the world’s greatest guitar player. Mick was their virtuoso. The Clash wouldn’t have been The Clash without Joe because he brought that energy and that poetry, but The Clash wouldn’t have been The Clash without Mick or Paul either, or Topper Headon. When Topper left, it was never quite the same.”
Have you ever been in a band yourself?
“I’ve never been in a band. I started playing guitar in my early ’20s and then put it away for a long time because I was too busy thinking I was going to be fabulous in the movie industry. Then around 2010 I picked it up again. I write music, but I haven’t released anything and I don’t think I ever will.”
What was it like performing as Joe in scenes like the Rock Against Racism gig at Victoria Park?
“Once action rolls you lose yourself in it. It was fucking exhausting. I was thinking ‘Christ almighty, The Clash must have been wrecked after their gigs!’ You don’t realise – you think these guys are having a good time cos you’re having a good time, but when they get off stage you can see them fucking collapse because it takes so much out of you. I just collapsed onto the stage when I was finished doing ‘White Riot’, like ‘fuck me, how the fuck do you get up?’ and then I had to get up and do ‘Janie Jones’.”
What new bands exciting you at the moment?
“The only new band I’m listening to right now is Unlock The Truth. They’re three kids from Brooklyn, New York. They’re African-American. They play heavy speed-metal. They are so good, they are beyond good. They’re opening for Metallica and they’re 12 years old. There’s a documentary about them called Breaking The Monster. They’re extraordinary kids, but their music… they’ve got more energy than anybody else in music put together apart from maybe Jay Z. I think Jay Z’s amazing, but all the rest of it is just a conglomeration of X Factor whatever.”
How did you find Unlock The Truth?
“I just discovered them online. There was a video of them playing in Times Square and somebody said ‘oh you’ve got to watch them’. They’re magnificent. Breaking The Monster is about them going into the very adult world of the music industry, which is a very hard world right now. People don’t want to go out and put their hearts into making music anymore because everything just gets taken from them. The first few albums from Kings Of Leon were amazing. ‘Aha Shake Heartbreak’ was a fantastic album so every now and then you’ll get someone come along who’s making beautiful stuff. Chvrches are also really interesting, but bands like The Clash? They’re just not there. There’s no one like them at the moment and that’s a problem. I’m constantly going back in the past to find something that’s relevant to me now.”

Интересное интервью ! После довольно долгого молчания -- Джонни с воодушевлением говорит о рок-музыке, о музыке, о своей работе над ролью . )) Оказывается он Поклонник "Клэш" !, то что поклонник рока -знаю ))), но , слава богу, вкусы не изменились. Отлично ! )))
Думаю, то , что пишет Джонни , его музыка звучит мелодично и красиво. Ему просто кажется, что недостаточно сложно, недостаточно профессионально, и всё в таком духе (((... Очень жаль, что не показывает своего творчества народу ((, так нельзя... Музыка для того и пишется, чтобы слушали, она скучает без слушателя... В последней фразе интервью снова грустные ноты...
Джонни, добрая душа, дал юным талантам "Unlocking the Truth" великолепную рекламу)) И кажется у этих ребят - бас-соло , интересно ))))

Теперь, когда он и Ивар (Алекс Høgh Андерсон) направились в Уэссекс, Рагнар наконец-то начинает общение с сыном, которого он когда-то хотел убить. Хотя они обмениваются разведывательной информацией , есть одна принципиальная разница, которая может их разлучить.
"У них очень разные взгляды на христианство," -- говорит Андерсон для TVGuide.com, -- "Ивар похож на Флоки (Густаф Скарсгард), в то время как лучший друг Рагнара был христианином."
